Reducing costs and increasing cash flow? It just takes the right partner.
Establish a PIN on your TCH Fuel Card and Get Cash at ATMs
You asked, and we listened.

Drivers may now use their TCH Fuel Card to get cash advances at any ATM that honors the STAR or Cirrus networks. STAR is the nation's leading PIN secured payments network and an expert in secure, real-time electronic transactions. Cirrus, a trademark of MasterCard International Incorporated, is a highly recognized ATM debit symbol honored at ATMs throughout North America and also found worldwide.

Combining this ATM network with TCH's coast-to-coast truckstop alliance gives drivers purchasing options everywhere the road takes them. Universally accepted? You bet we are!

Use TCH at an ATM
When drivers withdraw cash using the TCH Fuel Card, the amount is debited from their pre-authorized cash advance limit. Aside from the ATM surcharge to the driver, TCH will assess a $1 fee. The carrier will be responsible for their normal transaction fee.

Create a PIN
Drivers must establish a Personal Identification Number (PIN) for their TCH Fuel Card before it can be used for ATM withdrawals. The PIN helps protect against fraud and ensures proper use. See the Driver PIN Setup section at the end of this article for details on setting up an individual PIN through the automated phone system.

Fee Structure Example for ATM Withdrawals
Driver withdraws cash from ATM:  $100.00
TCH ATM Fee The $1 TCH ATM fee is deducted from the driver's cash advance line.
 $1.00
ATM Surcharge ATM surcharges vary and are controlled by the owner of the ATM. This is an example. TCH does not regulate or set ATM fees.
 $1.50
Total deducted from driver's cash line:  $102.50
Carrier Transaction Fee A transaction fee appears on the carrier's statement at the same rate as fuel transactions.

Establish a Cash Advance Line
Drivers may only get cash advances through ATMs if the carrier has established a cash advance line on the driver's card. Cash advances are administered through the automated phone system or TCH's online E-Manager program.

Drivers can still use their TCH Fuel Card to get cash at the fuel desk for no additional fee when purchasing fuel. However, ATM access provides a fast and convenient way for drivers to get cash when visiting a fuel desk isn't feasible.

It's all about options; and it's one more effort to prove our commitment to provide distinctive products the trucking industry demands.

Helpful Hints for ATM Users

  • Be sure the ATM displays the STAR logo.
  • Insert card and enter Personal Identification Number (PIN). Select "credit" on ATM screen.
  • Take your receipt. The transaction amount will be automatically deducted from your cash advance limit.
  • While many ATMs are available 24 hours a day, some may be open only during local business hours. To be on the safe side, plan your withdrawals ahead of time.
  • Check with your company to determine the cash limit of funds that can be withdrawn.
Protecting Your ATM Card
  • Keep your card in a safe place to avoid damage.
  • Memorize your Personal Identification Number (PIN). Never write the PIN on anything in your wallet or on the card itself.
  • Immediately report a lost or stolen card to the person at your company who handles fuel cards.

L.W. Miller Gives Favorable Review of TCH E-Manager
All of us at TCH are thrilled about E-Manager, a new web-based fuel card management application designed to make life easier for our carriers. E-Manager has been in use for several months, and several trucking companies that are using it have provided glowing reviews.

One of the earliest users of E-Manager is L.W. Miller Transportation, a company started by Larry Miller in 1982. The company has grown from three owner-operators and two company trucks to nearly 500 employees. In addition to over-the-road trucking, L. W. Miller operates eight convenience stores, three major repair facilities and two truck washes. As the company continues to grow, so do their technological needs. E-Manager has helped L. W. Miller cut down on paperwork and improve productivity.

TCH interviewed Warren Barton, Human Resources Manager at L.W. Miller Transportation to find out his thoughts about E-Manager.

"With E-Manager we can restrict who can go where to buy fuel and what else the driver can do while at the truck stop."

"When we were first shown E-Manager, both Glenn Bair, our systems administrator, and I were really excited about it. I knew it was going to take a load off of us because we can put the work of managing fuel cards where it belongs, on the dispatchers!"

"With E-Manager we can restrict who can go where to buy fuel and what else the driver can do while he's at the truck stop. All of the security measures are wonderful! I love that part!"

"What I really like is to be able to put this on a dispatcher's desk and say, 'ok, you manage your fuel cards from here -- you can assign a card, you can do a cash override, but you can't change limits. I can give them day-to-day access to manage their part of the business, but I still have ultimate control over policy."

Barton is also looking forward to implementing the Money Code management feature of E-Manager. He described to us how they have been doing it under their current system:

"You can't imagine all the stuff we have to do just to track money codes. We have one person downstairs who does nothing but keep track of them. She uses paper to keep a record of who assigned a code, what it was for, the trip number, the transaction number, etc. Everything is manually keyed into her computer and then reviewed for accuracy and control purposes."

"During my review I always have to send my account manager, Lori, an e-mail to ask, 'What else is outstanding, or what's up with these codes? Are they active? Are they inactive? Have they been used? If they've been used, why didn't I check them off?' "

"She then sends a note back to me saying 'these are open and active; this one was used at such and such…' and so on and so forth. Not the best way to run a company, but that's all we had to work with!"

Now, with E-Manager, there is a better way. The program issues and activates money code at the same time. It keeps track of who issued the code, the amount, why it was issued and whether or not the code has been used."

According to Barton, "Most of the things we've seen about E-Manager are very exciting to us. I think it's going to be great!"

TCH is glad to hear that E-Manager is making a difference for our carriers. It is encouraging to know that our customers are more excited about E-Manager as we are!

Why are there Letters in my Money Code?
If you think your money code looks more like alphabet soup, it's because TCH has recently implemented Alpha characters within TCH money codes.

The result is letters will appear in your money codes now along with numbers to compile the nineteen-digit code which is necessary for processing TCH Checks®.

This will not affect how the codes work. The procedure to authorize and cash a TCH Check® will remain the same. Please make sure all of the personnel within your organization who use TCH money codes are aware of the recent change.

Try the new TCH E-Manager money codes. It's so simple to use, we're confident you'll like what you see. After using E-Manager money codes, you may make the switch from paper money codes for good.

Reducing costs and increasing cash flow? It just takes the right partner.
Succeeding in today's transportation industry is no easy task. Fortunately, there are resources at your disposal to help you reduce costs, increase cash flow, and generally improve all aspects of your business. Could your business benefit from a line of credit to pay for your operating expenses? How about an association (absolutely free to drivers and carriers) where each receive benefits to the bottom line? Benefits include: better prices on tires from national accounts, better prices on fuel, discount on meals, emergency road side assistance, motel discounts, accounting services, and the cash to maintain or grow your business.

Sound too good to be true? There is at least one partnership that exists in today's market that offers the conveniences listed above.
